About

Hello, my name's Sean. I'm an animator, writer, filmmaker and director. Prawnimation is my little hub where you'll generally find my work and information. I have around 20 years of professional experience in animation, post-production, directing, 2D character rigging, writing and motion graphics at a variety of different production houses worldwide. In recent years, I have edged more towards writing and directing, but I still love to get my hands dirty and animate regularly.

I work in broadcast television (BBC 1+2, ITV, Channel 4, Cbeebies, STV, Sky Kids, Community Channel, Sky, Virgin Media, Youtube, NowTV, Youtube Red and many more), documentary, film, viral, published, live, music and social media productions and I'm always looking for new and exciting projects - either long or short term. I'm always making stuff so please try and give me some project notice.

Proficiency

My focus is predominantly in directing, 2D Animation (character and motion graphics), 2D character rigging and post-production but I also have a substantial background in photo-retouching, writing and compositing. I'm willing to partake in most creative roles, front and back end, with a willingness to learn new things. I really love writing and being a part of the idea & pre-production process.

I'm experienced enough to confidently be fully involved with any of the following roles: Animation, direction, character animation, 2D character rigging, writing, motion graphics, development, photo-retouching, compositing, drawing, team environment skills, design, post-production, flat and digital art, problem solving, fast turnaround pipelines and multi-tasking.

Software

I mainly use After Effects, Photoshop & Illustrator but I also know my way around Mocha, CelAction and Premiere. I'm also very experienced with a ton of AE extensions and plugins. I'm PC and Mac proficient.

FAQs

How long does it take to make an animation?

Totally depends on the brief, style, deadline, length and budget. Send me an accurate brief and I'll send you a refined quote based on that information.

Would you be interested in unpaid pitch work?

No thank you.

... but if you do the pitch and we win the job, you'll get the work! How about now?

Still no.

Will you work for 'exposure'?

Nope, if you're contacting me I must already be exposed.

Do you illustrate your own work?

Absolutely, but I much prefer to work collaboratively with artists and focus solely on the motion/narrative - I feel my work is stronger that way. I have a close group of incredible artists that I regularly work with, as well as people who I’ve had the pleasure of working with once or twice. If you want to see some of my design work send me and email or take a look beside the videos on my site to see which ones were illustrated by me.

What software do you use?

Mainly After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. Plus a bunch of After Effects plug-ins and extensions.

What is your day rate?

£300pd inc VAT for animation/design services. £325pd inc VAT for directing/writing/producing alongside the animation work. Night work and weekends will differ. Contact me to talk more or discuss budget.

Can you remake this 16:9 film in a square/portrait format for socials?

Yes, but it shouldn’t be an afterthought. Repurposing content takes time, especially if it hasn't been designed with versioning in mind. It is doable but should be considered beforehand or there will be an additional cost.

Can you make these tiny changes?

I'll judge whether the changes are tiny!

Would you like your website to rank first on Google...?

Oh, sod off.
